Not only are natural healing foods one of the most wonderful and bountiful gifts supplied by Mother Nature, they also happen to have amazing healing qualities. Not only do healing foods build up your natural immune system against disease, they also prevent diseases from occurring. Some of the major debilitating and degenerative diseases like cancer, diabetes and heart problems can be prevented, and even restricted, with foods that heal. Unfortunately, the majority of our foods are either overly processed or preserved with chemicals, depleting the health benefits of these foods. Chemicals and preservatives destroy all of the natural bounty that is available to us. Instead, turn to eating all the colors of the rainbow; choosing red, orange, purple, yellow and green raw or lightly cooked veggies and fruits. Go for seeds, oils, and nuts derived from plant-based natural products like olive oil, instead of consuming hydrogenated fats. If cooking foods in oil is needed, try using olive oil. A simple change like that may lessen the risk of heart disease and cancer. Whole-grain foods are a must in any healthy diet. Whole grains that have not been overly processed are extremely rich in fiber, minerals, and vitamin B. Brown rice, whole wheat, and brown bread are much healthier substitutes over white pasta and rice. If you are healing from a serious illness, lessening your intake of red meat can be beneficial in helping your system heal faster. Instead, substitute your diet with legumes, beans, lentils and omega-3 rich fish like salmon and mackerel. If you really need to eat meat, choose chicken or turkey and keep the red meat for an occasional meal. Limit dairy products to three times a day, for optimum healing benefits. Dairy milk can also be substituted with calcium-fortified orange juice, or even soy milk. A Sampling of Six Sensational Healing Foods:
  • Broccoli is an amazing source of fiber, vitamins and calcium. Steam it or eat it raw.
  • Pomegranates also act as powerful antioxidants and add vitamins and potassium to your diet.
  • Flaxseed, prevents constipation and features rich omega-3s which are excellent for your brain. (It’s wonderful ground and sprinkled in smoothies or on cereal.)
  • Almonds: the healthy oil in almonds is extremely good for your hair and skin. A handful a day keeps cancer and heart trouble away.
