Fidgeting is regarded to be an act of continuous restless motion, which usually results from either of nervousness, boredom or agitation or a combination of these factors. Although, parents regard this act to be a sign of bad habit in small children but researchers have a different view to this activity. A recent clinical study has revealed that individuals who keep on fidgeting have been found to live healthier and longer than those people who sit for a longer period of time.
Spending of quality time on various sedentary activities such as watching TV, sitting at one place or doing work on computer are regarded to make people vulnerable to various health consequences that include heart complications, stroke, hypertension, etc along with shortening the life span of any individual. The current lifestyle pattern and occupation demand people to be inactive and spend their 60 - 70 percent of the time being sitting and watching television for more than 4 hours on a daily basis.
But, researchers claim that mitigating your sitting time can greatly aid in cutting down our risk of acquiring various metabolic complications such as cardiovascular and diabetes as it results in better sugar and fat catabolism. And hence, inculcating some simple measures such as stretching your arms and legs in between for a time period of one minute or two or else walking or any other measures to break up your throughout the day sitting period could provide you the potential to battle against harmful effects of sitting along with paving your way to overall better health.
