Healthy Weight Loss; Avoid The Jo-Jo Effect
In today's society, where appearance seem to become more and more important, the interest for weight loss has increased as well. We all know that obesity or overweight is unhealthy as well as all the benefits that comes with a healthy life. But how you look is also important and it seem obvious that the visual benefits of weight loss is a big motivating factor as well. It is with weight loss as with most other things; it can be obtained with good or not so good methods. If you want a sustainable weight loss and feel good as well, then you should apply some healthy weight loss ideas, such as the following:
The Basics
You should never stop eating altogether or just start drinking liquids to get by if you are looking to lose weight. Sure this may shed a few pounds and make you look and feel lighter, but in reality you are actually not doing what you think. You are not losing fat but instead muscle, and so you are actually being left with more body fat than what you had to start with.
Healthy weight loss does not involve the cessation of eating altogether but rather coming up with a healthy and sufficient diet that includes the essentials, such as fruits, grains, calcium, and so on.
There are really no shortcuts when it comes to losing weight the healthy way, and if you want to go about it the right way you have to know that your body likes slow changes in terms of food and exercise, rather than anything drastic and sudden like crash diets or bursts of exercise.
You need to begin to incorporate healthy eating and remember that small changes can make a big difference. Think of weight loss in terms of permanently changing your eating habits, rather than just trading them for a couple weeks or two. While weight loss goals are usually set in the short-term form, the goal for you here should be to attain and maintain a healthy weight loss and weight management regime that you can use for the rest of your life.
Increasing your activity levels is going to be one of the most important things you can do for healthy weight loss. You can eat as healthy as you want but if you do not get some form of exercise then you are not going to be able to get in shape and tone your body. There are lots of ways that you can increase the amount of activity that you do. The best thing to do is to find something that you enjoy doing because this way you are not going to grow bored of it or dread doing it.
Walking along the path in a park on a summer day - maybe with your dog - , can be therapeutic, so why don't you make a habit of it? You can start with walking then increase the speed to jogging gradually, or jog in intervals. Three times a week is great. Other healthy weight loss exercises of a more relaxing kind are Yoga and pilates. These are low-pace exercises but are still excellent for losing weight, sculpt your body and tone your muscles.
