In preparation for departure; summer time is upon us and many busy moms are consumed with driving their children to summer camps, shuttling their carpool kids to and fro and all the while, doing the best they can to keep some sort of orderly schedule to support their own goals of a healthier, happier, lighter lifestyle.
You know what they say, “it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!” Playing the local taxi driver is one of those jobs that just doesn’t cease; that is until your child gets their driver’s license. Now that’s a scary thought for some Lovely Ladies. Whatever your schedule, regardless of how many trips to the museum, ball field, photography studio, dance recitals or soccer games this summer, you must always keep in mind that to work toward your goals you must be prepared and ready to handle situations where you are stuck in traffic, happy campers not being let out on time, flying out of the house at the last moment and being ready for those surprise trips to the playground.
The plain truth of the matter is whatever you have at your fingertips while being held hostage by your vehicle will end up in your tummy if you are not better prepared for your journey. So let’s take a look at some easy ways in which to prepare for those long days of driving, waiting and feeling peckish.
~Equip your vehicle with a small laundry basket.
~Fill the laundry basket with healthy choices. Why not select some items from the following list to add to your basket of goodies?
Appropriate serving sizes of: almonds, peanuts, pretzels, granola bars, raisins, sunflower seeds, mini-marshmallows, popcorn, mini whole wheat bagels and mini pita breads.
~Refill the basket each day to ensure continuity, availability and success.
~House a case of water in your car, so you always have the opportunity to hydrate. It may get a little warm, but that’s OK.
~Pack a small travel cooler the night before your driving adventures filled with easy, on-the-go options: low-fat cheese sticks, yogurts, drinkables, grapes, strawberries and mini carrots.
Whatever your choices turn out to be, make it happen, think ahead and prepare yourself to generate success in your life. You can do this; create your path to your envisioned life.
