rnHEARTBURN can be a wicked boy robbing us of much needed sleep, rearing its ugly head just after a great meal and putting the brakes on the very foods we love most. A few years ago I had terrible problems with acid reflux. I was on either Prilosec, Prevacid or Protonix. I tried several times to come off of them but to no avail, the reflux was too intense and too often. After making dietary changes and using the AlkaLime the supplement shown below, I was able to come off and stay off of the acid blockers. Acid reflux can be a very serious condition. It can lead to ulcerations in the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. Signs of too much acid are abdominal pain, burning in the abdominal area or in the chest, hoarseness, sour taste in the mouth, bad breath, etc. Antacids like Tums are the #1 over-the-counter medicine. Pepcid and Zantac are acid reducers. Acid blockers like Nexium (the purple pill) and Prilosec significantly reduce stomach acid. A recent study raised concerns about the risk of developing hip fractures as a result of osteoporosis from long-term use of the acid blockers. In addition blocking stomach acid maybe harmful as stomach acid is needed to digest foods and kill bacteria. The stomach has the perfect pH for hydrochloric acid. However it was not meant to come in contact with the delicate lining of the esophagus. Blood pH has a very narrow range. The body likes to be slightly basic, not acidic. Certain foods, stress, and obesity upset that balance creating an acidic environment. Besides losing weight, wearing loose clothing, not overeating, and not eating too close to bedtime there are several dietary changes you can make to decrease and/or eliminate acid reflux and at the same time decrease acidosis in the body. Here's 3 tips to alkalize the blood and bring the body back into balance: 1.Identify your trigger foods. The most common are chocolate, fermented foods and spicy foods. 2.Decrease processed foods which are very acidic and increase fresh fruits and vegetables, most are alkalizing. 3.Boost friendly bacteria in the intestines with probiotics. rnThe products below also help to bring the body back into balance. AlkaLime contains alkalizing minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium. These minerals are lost when the body it too acidic. Life 5 contains the probiotics (friendly bacteria) to rebalance the intestinal flora. Although lemons are acidic they become alkaline in the body. Add lemon oil to water for a refreshing drink especially in the morning. rnAlkaLime Product Code #3199 rnContains alkaline minerals to restore slightly basic pH levels in the blood.
