Heavy Snowfall in the Hills, Orange and Yellow Alert in Many Districts Today

Snowfall has started again in Outer Siraj of tribal districts Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and Kullu. Snow has fallen from one to two and a half feet in domestic areas. The Rohtang Pass, 13,050 feet high, has received snowfall of 90 cm, Koksar with 60 and Keylong 30 cm. Heavy snowfall has increased the risk of snowfall. Half a dozen routes of Pangi, the tribal areas including Saluni-Langara, Khajjiar, Lakkad Mandi of Chamba, are stalled for movement of vehicles. There is a power failure in 29 panchayats of Bharmour. 454 roads including two NH Shimla-Rampur and Kullu-Aani are still closed across the state.

The capital Shimla remained cloudy throughout the day and the crowds of travelers thronged the markets. High-altitude areas of the Kullu region receive snowfall while low-lying areas have been receiving rains since night. The administration has issued an alert till 19 January, instructing people and tourists not to travel towards sensitive areas. 200 villages in the district are in darkness, more than 60 roads and more than 50 drinking water schemes are stalled.

In Kinnaur, Rampur and Outer Siraj areas, once again snowfall is not taking the name of the problems. Wheels of vehicles are stuck on most of the rural routes of Upper Himachal including National Highway Narkanda. In Kinnaur, snowfall in high altitude areas and snowfall and rain in low lying areas stay in the morning due to inclement weather. The sky was cloudy on Sunday in District Chamba.

Due to heavy snowfall in Himachal, the weather is going to deteriorate again from Sunday after facing four days of bad weather. There is an orange alert of heavy rain and snowfall on Monday. Meteorological Center Shimla has announced warnings for January 13 and 16. The weather will remain bad until 17 January. On Saturday, some regions including the capital Shimla remained cloudy, while the high peaks of Kullu-Manali, including the Rohtang Pass, again triggered snowfall. On the other hand, the bus service started in the capital Shimla on the fourth day from noon.

632 roads including three NHS are still closed across the state. Contact with many areas paralyzed by snow remained cut off from other areas on Saturday. The Youth Congress came down on Gandhigiri on Saturday to highlight the apathy of the government and district administration Shimla.
