Making decisions can be overwhelming sometimes and cause a lot of undo stress. Especially when you base the decision on what other people want you to do. The decisions that make you happy and bring you success are the best decisions. Many times we need help with decision making. While this input is important, always remember that you are the one that has to live with the results. Above and beyond anything else, those decisions must be right for you. Here are some things to take into account when facing important choices: Consider the Source Where did the ideas come from? Did they come from family, or friends, or are they yours? Acting too quickly to make a decision by accepting someone else's solution could be a recipe for disaster later and lead to regret. Stop and figure out what you really want before making a decision. You are in control of your own future, and your feelings about an issue matter. While others may be looking out for you, they aren't you, and don't know everything about the situation. You are the only one who really knows what's best for you. What are the consequences? It's easy to give other people advice when you aren't the one who will have to live with the consequences. When you get mixed messages from different people about a decision, take your time thinking about how each option will affect you. Make your decision based on the results that you deserve. Take into consideration your mind, heart, and spirit, and how this decision will affect your overall joy and peace. While it's always important to consider the affect your decision will have on others, don't sacrifice your own needs and feelings. Think about the long-term consequences of each of your options. While some choices we make have instant gratification, others take time for results to surface. Make it your goal to make decisions that work for you in both the near and distant future. Do a Gut Check When you've finally come to a decision, look back on how you got there. How does the decision make you feel inside? Does it feel peaceful, or bring feelings of doubt and uncertainty? Usually, if you feel peaceful about your decision, it is the best one. Strive to make decisions that will bring you the greatest fulfillment for the longest period of time rather than instant payoff or physical pleasure. Your decisions should: * Provide you with peace and joy over short term pleasure * Bring you happiness for the long term * Be worth working for * Be in-line with your spirit * Feel right in your gut * Not hurt anyone else Use the above as your checklist to help with decision making. If it doesn't meet these conditions, then it probably is not the best choice for you. Remember that your decision will wind up affecting you and other people, so weigh your options with care. Listen to your heart to help with decision making, and make choices that are in line with your heart and spirit. When you do this, you will experience the happiness and peace you deserve.
