It is indeed very alarming to know that almost half of the general population suffers from hemorrhoidal problems. Therefore, finding effective hemorrhoids home treatments is critical to reduce the risk of having further complications on this kind of disease. Hemorrhoids are embarrassing. Moreover, it creates discomfort and pain to the patient and can make situation be a very frightening one. But on the brighter side, there are a number of home treatments for hemorrhoids and these include the following: Sitz Bath This is the most effective and inexpensive home treatment for haemorrhoid. It is done in a sitz bath tub that is designed to fit over the seat of the toilet. A sitz bath tub is filled with warm water and a hemorrhoid patient can sit over the tub for about 15-20 minutes for several times a day. The purpose of warm water is to kill the pain while increasing the flow of blood to the affected area that can lead also to shrinking of swollen veins. In addition, warm water relaxes the sphincter muscle and helps in soothing the pain associated with the bulging of hemorrhoids. Avoid Rubbing the Affected Area Hemorrhoids are caused as well by frequent rubbing of the affected area. Hence, it is suggested that instead of rubbing, have the area washed through rinsing it off thoroughly in the shower. However, refrain from using soap that has perfumes or dyes. Soaps that are mild and gentle are highly recommended for washing hemorrhoids. Apply Some Medication Many creams are readily available on the market. Although they are generally will not make your problem vanishes, they can somehow reduce the pain and anal discomfort. Examples of pain medications are Acetaminophen (Tylenol), Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and Naproxen. These are effective with pain and swelling of hemorrhoids since they contain anti-inflammatory properties. They have the capacity to provide the patient with some relief and helps in shrinking of the bulging hemorrhoids. But remember that these are not to be used for maintenance. Changing the Diet I believe that the most effective way to fight against hemorrhoids is to solve the source of the problem. Certainly, the major cause of hemorrhoids is constipation. Changing your diet to foods rich in fiber helps promote normal bowel movements and keeping it consistent as well. Drink plenty of water because it also keeps us away from the danger of hemorrhoids flare-ups in the future. Petroleum Jelly or Zinc Oxide Paste Remedy Petroleum jelly or Zinc Oxide paste is a good remedy to reduce the pain and swelling of hemorrhoids. After wiping with a soft and moistened cloth or towel, smear a small amount of petroleum jelly on a cotton ball and apply on the swollen area. Nevertheless, be sure that the swollen areas are being kept clean and dry. Avoiding of Salty Foods Foods like French fries and other salty chips can make hemorrhoids worse since extra salt holds fluids in the circulatory system. This can result to the swelling of veins in the anal area. It is therefore important to take care of our salt intake because it may lead to hemorrhoid complications to the existing ones.
