Hepatitis types, causes and treatment for each

Hepatitis is a medical condition defined by the inflammation of the liver by the presence of inflammatory cells in tissue of the organ. The inflammation of the liver is caused by Hepatitis A. When symptoms like jaundice, diarrhea, stomach pain, fatigue, mild fever, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, skin rash, headache, belly pain, joint and muscle pain occur; the person suffers from this disease.

Hepatitis A:

Children often have it with a few symptoms. The person can spread this virus about a week before his or her symptoms appear and during the first week of having symptoms. It can also spread through people who show no symptoms.

Transmission of this virus:
It is found in the stool of the person. It is spread from person to person by putting something in your mouth that has been contaminated with the stool of an infected person. Therefore, this most commonly transmitted in drinking water or food contaminated with the stool containing the virus. It spreads easily when there is poor hygiene or poor sanitation. It is also spreads through eating fruits, vegetables or other foods that are contaminated during handling. Swallowing contaminated ice or water.

Treatment:
There are no treatments that will cure this type but it can be prevented by vaccination, maintaining good hygiene.

Hepatitis B:

This is also called acute hepatitis because adults who get it have it for a short time and then get better. It caused by the virus. It spreads through contact with the body fluids or blood of an infected person. Sometimes the virus causes a long-term infection and is called chronic.

Transmission of this virus:
You may get this if you have sex with an infected person. The infection can also spread if you share needles used for injecting drugs with an infected person. Tattooing or piercing is done with tools that are not cleaned well. Sharing personal items like toothbrushes, razors with an infected person can lead to this disease.

Treatment:
It goes on its own. You can relieve your symptoms by resting, drinking plenty of water, eating healthy foods, avoiding alcohols and drugs. Also find out from your doctor what medicine and herbal products to avoid because some can damage the liver.

Hepatitis C:

It is disease caused by a virus that infects the liver. It can lead to permanent damage as well as liver cancer, liver failure and cirrhosis in time.

Transmission of this virus:
It is spread by contact with an infected person’s blood. You can get it if you share needles and other equipments used to inject illegal drugs. This is the most common way. Piercing or tattooing with an infected needle also leads to this disease. In rare cases if a mother is suffering with Hepatitis C then the virus is spread to her baby at birth.

Treatment:
In this case combination of medicines that fight infection is the best treatment.
