People who become victims of heroin addictions are increasing on a daily basis. In order to comprehend the power associated with heroin addiction, it is important for the people to have a clear understanding about the intensity of withdrawals. When you addicted to heroin, a series of changes would take place within the body and you would get the need to have it on a regular basis. Your skin would become warm and you will have to experience dry mouth as the short term effects. However, heroin can also lead you towards long term health issues such as slowing down of your body functions and negative impact caused on heartbeat and breathing.

It has been identified that heroin withdrawal symptoms for most of the addicts take place within 6 to 12 hours of the last dose. However, this can reduce up to 4 hours for the heavy addicts. A variety of withdrawal symptoms can also take place within the addicts. They range from mild symptoms to severe symptoms. The symptoms depend on the dose of heroin consumed, duration consumed and the frequency of use. In addition, the health of the victim can also create an impact on the level of withdrawal symptoms.

Some of the most common symptoms that are associated with heroin withdrawal include chills, sweats, cramping, nausea, impaired breathing, depression, muscle spams, rapid heart rate, depression, anxiety, diarrhea, vomiting and cramping. The peak of these withdrawal symptoms would last for a period of two to three days after the dose. However, mild conditions can last up to seven days. In addition, it is important to keep in mind that the post-acute withdrawal symptoms that are associated with heroin, such as stress, sensitivity, anxiety and insomnia can last up to months or years. The addicts will also find health issues with cognitive thinking.

It is possible to proxy measure the heroin withdrawal timeframe of an individual by taking a look at the size of pupils. If the pupils of the heroin addict are large, it is a clear indication that the victim is going through acute heroin withdrawals. Along with time the withdrawal symptoms would fade away. As a result, the pupils would get smaller and come back to the normal size.

No life-threatening symptoms are associated with heroin withdrawal. However, the heroin addicts can die from the overdose of heroin. Having that said, it is quite important to be careful with the psychological and medical symptoms that are associated with heroin withdrawal. Therefore, it should not be attempted alone. It would be a good idea to seek the assistance of a mental health professional or a medical professional throughout the heroin withdrawal period. Then all the risks associated with the withdrawal symptoms can be mitigated. The need to have heroin could then be eliminated from the mind of the victim along with time and no major health issues would take place after that.
