Hindupur is the second largest town of Anantpur district, in the state of Karnataka. Located on the banks of Penner River, this town has an average elevation of 621 m. It is situated at a distance of 14 km from Lepakshi and about 100 km away from the state capital of Bengaluru. Hindupur, located in the Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh, is famous for tourist sites like the Surappakunta Waterfalls, Gayatri temple in Laxmipuram and Sri Shirdi Sai temple. The nearby villages, namely Sevamandir, Sadlapalli, Basavanapalli and Sugur that are known for beautiful ancient temples can also be visited. Hindupur is a busy business center. There is a small village near the town called Lepakshi and there are many buildings that are an example of the Vijayanagar style of architecture.
