I have no doubt that you are an amazing administrative professional. The skills that you currently possess may be enough for you to get starting in your new career as a Virtual Assistant. Although you will need to acquire new skills (as normal), the base knowledge and skillset that you possess could put you on the road to becoming an entrepreneur. What do I mean by that?

You Have The Needed Skills!

The work that you are doing right now as an Executive or Administrative Assistant is currently paying your bills, correct? Great! It doesn't matter if your in a law firm, an investment company or in the healthcare industry, your skillset is a wonderful asset to you. Think of the many activities that you engage on a daily basis. You are probably experienced in some or all of the following:

  • Customer Service
  • Email Management
  • Contact Database Management
  • Scheduling
  • Social Media Management
  • Travel Arrangements
  • Presentation Preparation
  • Writing
  • Organizing (all sorts of things electronically and physically)
  • MAINLY MAKING OTHER PEOPLES LIVES EASIER

I think that by now you get the point. You are in the business of make the work life of other people simpler, quicker and more efficient. The cool thing about being an administrative professional is that you can take those same skills and use them to fire your boss and hire yourself. Are you with me so far?

As you can see, having the skills is not the obstacle between you firing your boss and hiring yourself. Have you reached the boiling point of being under-appreciated in the work place? Are you hoping to get that ever-elusive raise? If so, there are a few options that are available to you.
