Hiring A Security Company

In many instances when I have called potential clients that I feel would benefit from the services of a professional and local security company I have come across companies that employ in house security guards. Their reasons normally vary from it being cheaper to being able to supervise the guards more efficiently if they are in-house and for many other reasons. THE main problem with businesses employing their own security guards is that most of the time they do not have the expertise to train, supervise and hold their security guards accountable. In most instances they use antiquated methods and equipment that actually increases cost, lowers the quality of the security and does not build skills.  A good and professional security company will add a lot of value in terms of expertise, experience, cut edge methods and equipment and training methods. A great security company will employ a time proven security concept, which will include the use of electronic equipment and supervisory visits to keep security guards accountable. The client will have the opportunity to choose their guards and disqualify security guards that do not fulfill their standards. In-house security guards are actually employees of the company so the business owner would have to pay payroll taxes, insurances and have good reasons and a process to dismiss a guard that is not performing according to standards.  When I meet with managers and business owners they are amazed about the cost savings, but also the quality benefits that they will enjoy when hiring a security company. After a security consultation, devising a security plan for the company and its employees and after training security guards that are deployed at the company's facility, the managers and business owner are further amazed. Most of the times they will share with me that they did not expect to receive such professional and valuable service. Many businesses will change the way they do business or increase their profitability by hiring a security company. One of my clients was a wholesaler of various electronic equipment and other high value merchandise. His company had employed three inhouse security guards for years. When the client reached such out to me theft at his facility had gotten out of control to the point that it was threatening the existence of an otherwise profitable business. After conducting a security consultation our findings were that two of the security officers were so friendly with the employees that they overlooked blatant theft in many instances. One of the security guards was involved with a group of employees that were stealing large quantities of merchandise and selling it. Lack of supervision, fraternization with employees and lack of discipline of three security guards had brought a flourishing business to the brink of ruin. After firing the security guards and a large number of other employees involved in theft we installed a camera system, deployed security guards that had to follow certain security protocols and performed frequent supervisory visits. Overnight the business was profitable and Theft was minimized to almost zero. That example shows that it will not hurt to talk to a security company from time to time and see if it would not be much more beneficial if a security company was hired as a provider of security services.
