History of Mallorca is very long and it revolves around the cultural as well as religious conflicts. Its history can be looked at in terms of different eras that have ever ruled this Island. Every era had an impact on the culture and the religion of the Mallorca Island.
Pre-Historic era. This ranges between 5000 BC to 1000 BC where there was very little information about it. The first people lived in caves and later build stone houses which were later ruined between 2000 BC to 1400 BC. They build the towers which are still present up to date to attract tourists.
Carthaginian era (700 BC to 146 BC). Mallorca was colonized and ruled by Carthaginians for a long time in which it was used as a military base when they were fighting the Romans. They then lost the war to the Romans about 146 BC during Punic Wars.
The Roman era (123 to 700). After the Punic wars, Mallorca was taken over by the pirates but later the Piracy was ended by 3000 Roman soldiers who settled on Mallorca. They established Palma town in the south and Puerto Pollensa in northern region. They converted the residents into Christianity and continued ruling this island for a number of centuries.
The Vandals invaded the Western Mediterranean region and later conquered Mallorca with Gunderich as their leader in 426. They ruled this island for one century during which they persecuted the Christians. In 534, Byzantines restored the Christianity and Romans took over again.
The Moors era (700 to 1229). There was a war against Moors that occurred between the 6th and 7th century where the Moors managed to conquer the Mallorca Island in the year 798. Balearic Island was conquered in 902 by the king of Cordoba and it was combined with Caliphate of Cordoba. Then Al Hawlani was appointed to be the governor of Mallorca where he built his palace. He also established Arab baths which is a crucial tourist attraction at Palma de Mallorca. The Moor era had a great effect on the residents' culture.
When the Caliphate of Cordoba collapsed between the 9th and 10th centuries, Mallorca was again in hands of pirates from 1087 to 1114. Then the North African Muslim tribes raided and ruled the island from 1115 to 1203. The moors then managed to conquer the island again and build 3 mosques where one of them stands where Cathedral was built.
Kingdom of Mallorca. This was between 1229 to 1349. In 1229, Jaume l 'El Conquistador' took over the Mallorca island and finished the piracy. His kingdom later split between his sons where Mallorca was under the rule of his elder son Jaue ll who later built a cathedral in Palma after re-establishing the Christianity.
This kingdom was again conquered by the kingdom of Aragon in 1349.

Kingdom of Spain. In 1479, both the kingdoms of Aragon and Castille were incorporated to form the single kingdom of Spain. Fortifications were built around Pollensa and Palma to prevent any invasion.
There was a civil war between the two Spain kingdoms that had already been separated where Felipe who was in favour of absolute Monarchy, was then named the king and made castellan as a means of transactions.
In 17th century, the island received so many refugees due to the war against the Napoleon. As a result of restlessness, Felipe canceled all the privileges they had achieved and renamed Palma as Palma de Mallorca.
At the beginning of 20th century, they started deconstructing the fortification that was around the Palma de Mallorca which ended in 1934. Mallorca Island started its first airport in 1960 which has played a major role in tourism industry. They also build so many hotels. Tourism has since grown drastically in Mallorca.
