The ancient techniques The world today experiences innovation and invention of different types. Long ago, furniture used to be made from oak, which were heavy and could last longer. This work of art was in-cooperated with well carved design of wood and other natural decorations. In great Britain it the word Oakley could be heard of. This was simply to mean that the referred item could be a product of oak. In Italy things were not different, a revolution on design occurred in this part of Europe with the emergence of Italian Renaissance. This change of design is credited to one Greco-Roman. In fourteenth century. A century that followed more influential change in design was reported. History reveals that it took two more centuries for this revolution in desire to be realism in the northern and southern parts of Europe. The designs which followed were found to be extraordinary with a lot of creative work attached to it. With many creative minds coming into furniture industry, styles of unique art came to being. It was found that by eighteenth century the furniture industry had graduated to a higher level. Human activity fuel among others contributed to depletion of heavy oak which provided timber for furniture industry. With no constant supply of preferred heavy oak, which had become expensive by then, an opportunity came for other type of wood to be used. Discoveries were made to satisfy the need for oak. One of these discoveries happened to be reproduction furniture. The history of reproduction furniture is as old as any other piece of art. Mostly the making of cabinet is much associated with this innovation. This can be proven by the work of Thomas Chippendale. A great cabinet maker from Britain. By seventeenth century the work of the said Briton had spread almost to all part of the world, as early as then the reproductive of these designs had been reported. Others dared to use his name in their work so as to give the higher notch when selling. Most surprisingly, the copies of Thomas work became on demand and even did better than the original designs. The benefit of reproduced furniture is that, quality is not compromised and the cost tends to be affordable. In today’s market, finding the original Chippendale is not effortless, but, the reproduced furniture continues to make style and quality that serves the need of individuals. Famous cabinet maker from the United States Of America ably made reproduction furniture during their colonial days. The man's name was Anthony Hay. Reproduction of furniture can also be traced to all parts of Europe. The present techniques One finds it rather interesting to note that Asia and East of the world now command reproduction of furniture designs. Europe lags, these countries not because the demand of furniture is low, but, because the producible cost in Europe is on the rise. Europe as a region finds it hard coping with new emergence like Japan and China, who are in the onset of promoting furniture industry. The techniques and experience needed for reproduction of furniture still belongs to Europe traditional companies, who in exchange assist the growing countries with knowledge and manpower needed. Because of depletion and shortage in supply of oak: beech, cypress, fir and elm. The drastic improvement in furniture industry is attributed to technological growth and modernization. Current machines are used in the facilitation of both the quality and quantity. Mass production of designs makes the industry develop. Long the use of hand appeared to be the only means for furniture reproduction, unlike today where effective and efficient machines are used. The present techniques can be attributed to innovation.
