The county has Luton Airport, the A1 and A5, plus both the West and East Coast mainline railways. Thus, if you want to lay on a hog roast event, it would be hard to find an easier place to get to. Bedfordshire lies north of London and east of the major cities such as Birmingham and Coventry – but it is also exquisite countryside. Catering is great in a place that boasts the beauty of the Chiltern Hills and Dunstable Downs. In fact, the area plays on its scenery by denoting the Bee Orchid as its county flower. Laying on a party for your friends, family or associates is a pleasure when you have the backdrop of a place like this – but also with entertainment credentials to match too. Among the stars that come from this area are: comedian Ronnie Barker, writer John Bunyan, journalist Alistair Cook, comedy actor John Le Messurier, and TV mathematician Carol Vorderman. We are not actually saying that organising one of our hog roasts here will actually mean you get the celebs all turning up, but you will be in good company to realise your entertainment is being held in an area of good pedigree. Bedfordshire also has many great attractions to consider as event locations where outdoor catering would work. Among these places are: Bedford Castle, Houghton House, Priory Country Park, Whipsnade Wildlife Park and a great place for a large music event – Woburn Abbey. This brings us on to music very nicely as cooking a pig for guests in the open is great when you combine it with music. You can book a location, lay on a band or an orchestra – and then get that crackling going with all the associated smells of a hog roast wafting through the Chilterns. If you also want to add a little extra to you local credentials at the outdoor catering event, why not also get some regional nosh in? The foremost delicacy in Bedfordshire is the ‘Clanger’. This is a suet crust dumpling filled with meat and/or jam. What a culinary prize! If I were to tell you of my favourite places to enjoy outdoor eating, most of them would be next to a stretch of water. There is nothing that can beat spending a summer’s evening next to a gently flowing river with a pint of beer and a pork roll (filled with English mustard and fried onions). Buckinghamshire is an ideal county for fulfilling such a pleasant time in. It has two notable rivers: the Thames and the Great Ouse. In addition to these, the county also boasts the Grand Union Canal – with plentiful locks – many of them with associated pubs too.The Thames particularly has many a tavern within easy reach of its historic waters. These are wonderful places to organise a hog roast. You and your guests can watch people wasting their time on the water while you enjoy an evening with the powerful flavours of pork and ale. Buckinghamshire is a great place for outdoor events because of its proximity to London. One of the great worries for event organisers is getting people to a concert or festival with ease. This county is one of the best-placed in the UK for this sort of occasion. It has four mainline railways passing through it, four motorways and plenty of A-roads too. But don’t presume for one minute that organising a hog roast event here will mean you are in an urban wasteland – nothing could be further from that view! Buckinghamshire is a rural county with the Chiltern Hills running through it. This is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is also plentiful open space because much of Bucks was made into ‘greenbelt’ around London after the Second World War. Another pleasant place to visit is Dorney Lake.

If you live in this county and are well connected, then holding a hog roast catering could lead to the arrival of many an A-list celebrity. Buckinghamshire is probably one of the most populous places for TV, film and music stars. Among them are the likes of Tim Rice, Cilla Black, Terry Wogan, Barry Gibb and Noel Gallagher.
