Home Teeth Whitening Kits – Whiten Teeth at Home

Everyone wants whiter teeth but not everyone wants to deal with the hassle of going out to the dentist office to get them that way. Fortunately, there are a lot of options available to whiten teeth at home at their own convenience. Products ranging from tooth paste and mouth wash to whitening strips and brush on gels are available but the most efficient and effective choice is to purchase one of the home teeth whitening kits. These kits usually include everything that is needed to make teeth whiter without requiring expensive dental office visits.

There are basically two types of home teeth whitening kits available. These are the over the counter kits available in many different retailers and custom whitening kits that are available from some dentist offices. The over the counter teeth whitening kits usually include a whitening agent, mouth trays and in some cases a whitening toothpaste or strips as an extra form of whitening for when the trays are not being used. These kits are made from whiteners that are not as strong as those in the professional grade kits. They provide excellent whitening results but they do take up to 14 days for the results to show. A downside is that the trays cannot be custom fitted to the mouth and they usually only whiten the most visible teeth, which are the ones in the front.

Professional grade home teeth whitening kits can be purchased from many dental offices. These kits include whiteners of the same, or a slightly lower, effectiveness of what is used in the dentist office. They also include mouth trays that are specially made for each patient and sometimes they include a light similar to what is used in the office to further activate the whiteners. These are more expensive than over the counter kits and it usually takes a longer time to get them than just purchasing them at a store. First an appointment must be made for the initial consultation and then the trays are custom fitted to match each patient’s mouth.

There are some products that can be used in addition to the home teeth whitening kits. People can supplement the kit’s whitening plan by using a whitening toothpaste and mouthwash. There are also some chewing gums available that promise a whiter smile. Because the kits can make the teeth sensitive to other whiteners so it would probably not be a good idea to use additional whitening strips or gels on the teeth.
