The largest city in the US state of Texas, Houston has a population of around 2.1 million people. It is best known for its fascinating blend of ethnic culture and its numerous popular landmarks.

As far as accommodation rates are conce
ed, Houston does not have a peak season. However, April through November is known to be the best time to visit the city as there are numerous seasonal attractions. Hotel rates do have a tendency to rise during the week and go down as weekends arrive, but that is on account of Houston being a business city. Winters in the city are pleasant, though there are occasional snowfalls. Outdoor events during this time are very few but you can enjoy some of the holiday attractions, like ice skating. You can also get cheap tickets to Houston at this time. Summers are unbearably hot and sweltering, so visit during this season only if you can take the humid air.

The George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the primary airport for flights to Houston, with William P. Hobby Airport as the secondary one. Delta Airlines is one of the flights providing cheap plane fares. January is usually the best month to get the cheapest airline tickets. Other cheap flights to Houston include KLM, Air France and United Airlines.

Houston is diverse when it comes to culture. It has over 90 languages spoken by its people. The city has a lot of popular festivals and events celebrating the cultural diversity of Houstonians. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which is held every year, is the largest event of the city. It takes place over 20 days from late February to early March and initiates with trail rides that converge at Reliant Park for a barbeque cook-off. The Gay Pride Parade held in late June to celebrate the gay liberation is another very famous attraction of this place. Houston International Festival and Houston Greek Festival are other important events.

With the exception of New York City, Houston’s Theater District is the most popular in the United States, with the maximum number of theater seats. Located almost in the center of Downtown, the Theater District has six of the city’s performance halls and nine performance art organizations. Being an important city for contemporary visual arts, this city has the Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, Houston Symphony Opera and Alley Theater.

The city also has a lot of museums, which are housed in the Museum District. The Museum of Fine Arts, the Cullen Sculpture Garden, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Holocaust Museum Houston and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston are some of the popular places you should see.

While Christianity is predominant in Houston, a lot of people in the city also practice Islam. The largest and first established madrasah in the area is Madrasah Islamia. All Saints Catholic Church and Abundant Life Cathedral Church are two of the catholic churches in the city.
