With the recent advancements in technology and communications, collaboration among employees and management is now easier than ever before; smartphones, laptops, computers and other mobile devices allow for effortless collaboration that is simple, yet effective. This has enabled companies to increase their productivity levels and as a result, improve their competitive advantage.

Your competitive advantage is what sets you apart from your competition; your ability to provide value to your customer in an area or field that is unique to your business is a crucial element in your success. This is also considered to be one of your most important components when developing a marketing campaign for your business and as a business owner or decision maker, you need to focus on your competitive advantage in order to turn prospects into valued customers.

According to a recent study by Smart Advantage, more than 95% of C-Level executives had very vague explanations about what their competitive advantage is; they are only aware of the general services their company offers customers, and what the benefits of these are. They do not have a clear idea of what sets them apart from the competition – and this is exactly what you should be focusing on if you want to improve your productivity, your company growth, and ultimately your bottom line. One of the best ways to achieve this is to step up your company’s collaboration efforts both internally and exte
ally, and this can be done with the use of modern technology.

There are many reasons why a business should make use of modern technology to collaborate:

  • Improves Productivity. Since some of the best and most creative ideas are usually formed while working as a team, pooling resources together and finding innovative ideas are now more effective than ever. With different people contributing different skills, team collaboration will lead to innovation, productivity, and ultimately, success.
  • Access to Resources. Tools such as mobile communication and VoIP will lead to better networking, so regardless of where an idea comes from, it will be easily accessible by other employees, partners and management. This in turn leads to an increase in the quality and effectiveness of your business’ service levels and ideas will be formed at a faster pace.
  • Reduces Ongoing Costs. Modern technology allows you to collaborate from remote locations, and allows for group sessions between management, employees, and customers. This will drastically reduce the cost of travel as well as the time it takes to complete a project.

The ability to communicate from any location and an endless pool of creativity will all contribute to a more productive working environment. This in turn will allow your company to focus on their own competitive advantage and turn every prospect into a valued and long lasting customer.
