To achieve the target of weight loss, various weight loss herbal remedies are present in Ayurveda, some of them are mentioned as below;
1. Use of herbs
There are lots of herbs in Ayurveda, which are recommended for weight loss. These herbs possess various compounds which are helpful in reducing fat from the body. Here are the names of some herbs which causes weight loss;
Vrikshamal (Garcinia cambogia) is known for managing the craving of food. It controls the accumulation of fats. Katuki (Picrorhiza kurroa) maintains digestion, which results in the good metabolism and reduces weight.
Blood circulation and purification is done by arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) which results in weight loss. Licorice (Gycyrrhiza glabra) is also known for the weight loss treatment. It reduces the abdominal fat because of the flavonoids present in it which prevents the oxidation of fatty acid. It also helps in reducing amount of triglyceride in the liver and blood.
The use of cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) helps in reducing the weight and maintaining the sugar level in the blood. The root tubers of mustaka Cyperus rotundus is also well known remedy of weight loss.
It helps in fat burning by stimulating the process of thermogenesis. Nigella sativa is also a famous plant used for weight loss. It is commonly known as kalonji, and seeds are effective against the obesity. Another plant named kotahla (Salacia reticulate) stimulates the multiplication of adipose tissues, leads to the reduction of fat deposition, which in results reduces the weight.
Ginger (zingiber officinale) is also used for the weight reduction. It regulates the metabolism of cholesterol which results in less oxidation of fatty acids. It also inhibits the accumulation of fats in body and maintain the cholesterol level in the blood.
2. Ayurvedic diet
The use of oats, barley and pulses (moong and arhar) can be added to the diet which is helpful in the fat reduction. There are some routine herbs used like bitter gourd, amla and soye, which can be useful in the weight loss. They helps in removing excess fat from the body.
3. Use of fruits and vegetablesr
The use of high fibre can also help in proper digestion of the food. Also it fill the stomach and delays the food craving. The fruits and vegetables are rich in fibers, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, which improves the digestion of the body. The regular use of fruits and vegetables can prevent many health related problems.
4. Honeyr
The use of honey (1 tsp) with lemon water (1 glass), early morning can also be an effective Ayurvedic remedy to lose weight. Also by the addition of black pepper (pinch of) into this lemon-honey water can be a best remedy to lose weight, if taken with empty stomach.
