There are two ways to sell something – Sell it yourself or get someone else to sell it for you. And with the wonderful stories of the super entrepreneurs that get their stuff into the mainstream high streets, it is every one’s dream to do this too. The problem, of course, is that a lot of entrepreneurs are thinking the same thing and as is always the case, you need to figure out what will make you stand out.
This article seeks to propose a different way of doing things. You possibly know it but you have been trying to avoid doing it because you are great at what you do, at the creation of the thing that you sell but you are not that great at the marketing of the thing that you put out there.
Most creative entrepreneurs feel this way and yet, you are in business and so you must get past this particular issue.
Ok, so what can you do to stand out and get the big chain supermarkets and department stores to come to you? You do it by building an online platform and shop.
Imagine being the one person with a YouTube channel of 100,000 local subscribers who buy your products and then you approach a large department store and the chances are you stand out from the other entrepreneurs who are hoping to get other people to buy their items in bulk and sell it for them. Or maybe, Facebook is more your thing and then you can build a large platform on Facebook and again, the same thing happens, when you build a large enough audience, you get people to come to you! All it takes is that you start up a Facebook Page and you start to invite people over to your page. Join groups on Facebook, build a few relationships and invite people to come over to your page.
Stand out as someone with heart and someone who cares about your customers and what they want from your item. Be a mini celebrity – To do this, you just need to own the person that you are.
Build a large enough platform and you will have the department store chains falling over themselves to stock your items if you put the word out that you are open to it. Of course, at that point you may not even want to do that. You may find that you have overcome your issues with promoting and marketing your items and selling them yourself that you decide to just keep doing what you are doing.
The thing to bear in mind is that this is not going to happen ove
ight and this is not a case of buying subscribers who are not engaging with you because they are just some computer droid in Pakistan somewhere – That is not going to work for you. The idea here is to build relationships with real people who actually choose to buy things from you.
Imagine building a business where you have a community of people who like what you create and tell you about it as well as tell all their friends. They also put their hands in their pockets and buy your stuff – How great would that be?
