“A Friend Said, “You Can’t Take a Child to a Baseball Game Anymore”

Yesterday a good friend came to me and said he had gone to Yankee Stadium to watch a game with his grown sons. In their small section of the huge stadium, there were 4 fights and lots of yelling of terrible words throughout the whole game. He even said, “Nowadays you can’t take a child to a game… this is not good for any child.”

What Can We Do?

Most people don’t understand that everything they watch on TV and in the news and in the movies influences their behavior and thus they are products of their society. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

1 - Let go of watching TV and looking at your computer and smartphone read something uplifting and soothing.

2 - See the good in all things… this takes practice… but with time it can be done.

3 - Don’t let controversy take over and make you angry… even from a purely scientific viewpoint anger destroys the body from the inside out.

4 - Hangout with friends and relatives who are loving and kind. Birds of a feather flock together… this is echoed in all the spiritual texts. Be picky about who you call a friend and spend time with.

5 - Be willing to be different. This too is talked about in all the spiritual texts. Do you think Noah was like all the other guys? I don’t think so. Do you think Buddha was like all the other guys? No I don’t think so. Walk the other path… the path that is least traveled… and know in your heart that you are doing what you know is right.

6 - Have a spiritual practice that you do daily. Take the time daily for prayer, meditation, chanting, contemplation, and reading of something uplifting and spiritual. All of this leads to inner peace and thus you to can be filled with love.

Let us all walk a different path… we don’t have to be like everyone else. Healing the anger in the world starts with YOU and ME.

Many Blessings to Everyone!
