Do you want to know the biggest science of all? Mind is where thoughts arise. Mind is nothing but one giving thoughts, thoughts and thoughts; it’s a collection of thoughts only. And we, out of ignorance, say, “I am thinking”. This is where the problem begins… And it perpetuates when we go on to say, “Why do I get such thoughts?” and get upset. Worrying over thoughts and forcing the mind to still the thoughts does not helprnIt is pointless to worry over thoughts. If we keep badgering the mind or forcibly demand it to be still, then it will revolt one day. So, nothing will be gained by confronting the mind, that’s how the nature of the mind is! Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan explains that the mind has two roles. rnLet’s understand…rnLike that of a radar: The role of mind is to inform us about things just like a radar: This is good, this is fearful, this is like this, this is like that. It does so with the help of thoughts. It signals what it sees and these signals are not to frighten us, but to caution us instead; so that we can take a remedial action on time; not to get scared of them… Like that of a boat: The mind is a like a boat; it can make us wander aimlessly. And on the other hand, if we meet a Gnani Purush, the Enlightened One, it can take us to moksha (the ultimate liberation) as well, as He gives our boat a compass. Our mind becomes steady and peaceful in mere presence of His, so just imagine how wonderful and peaceful His mind must be! So, let’s discuss some of the Gnani’s methods, which we can incorporate too. Attain Self Realization (Gnan)rnToday, through Akram Vignan, we can attain Self-Realization directly from the Gnani Purush, who has the divine spiritual powers to separate the Self (the pure Soul) and the non-Self (the body-complex comprising of mind, speech, body, ego, intellect, etc. – everything besides the Soul, our real Self) and thereby give us the awareness of who we really are. For this, all that we need to do is attend a two hours Self-Realization Ceremony, which is completely free of cost. After we attend a Self-Realization Ceremony, we learn to keep our mind separate as we realize that, “I am a pure Soul, separate from the mind, and my nature is only to see and know whatever thoughts arise.” With this, our belief that, ‘I am indeed the one who is having these thoughts that create suffering or I am indeed the one who is suffering because of these thoughts’ also drops. Experiment of ConversationrnAfter attaining Self-Realization, Gnani Purush also teaches us one of the most practical way to deal with the thoughts that create suffering, and that is to converse with the mind. Mind expresses what it feels. Thereafter, it is up to us to decide whether what it is saying is useful to us. If we say yes, we make use of it, otherwise we can simply respond to it in a kind tone, ‘Ok, I will be careful henceforth.’ Listening to our reply, the mind feels respected and it moves on to the next matter or issue. Practicing this with the mind helps tremendously well. rnEven when it shows scary thoughts that create enormous imaginary suffering, for e.g., ‘What if this happens…what if that happens’, one must understand that these are just thoughts; whatever is to happen shall happen as per destiny and not according to the thoughts that arise in mind. So we just have to tell the mind, ‘Ok, I have noted it’, and the mind will start talking about some other things that are nice and soothing. Prayer is a very powerful tool rnEveryday morning, make it a practice to pray to God that, “Dear God, May I never cause slightest hurt to anyone through my thoughts, words or actions.” In our mind, whatever thoughts are coming, they are due to our past opinions. In past, we have given some opinion, which has charged some atoms. And those charged atoms are now giving its result. At the time of discharge, we can see that thought. Suppose we had an opinion, “I will teach that person a lesson.” Such past opinions, that of hurting others, result in thoughts that create suffering for us today. However, Gnani Purush, the Enlightened One, suggests we say the above prayer. This fresh and pure intent of ours will create a mind where no thoughts, that create suffering, arise. So rather than putting in our efforts to still the mind, let’s go to Gnani Purush, the Enlightened One, and with His grace, follow the above to get the way out of all kinds of sufferings.
