In case you are facing a slow Comcast Internet connection, then there are some simple steps that you can follow to normalize the speed of your Comcast cable Modem. For most of the users, the default settings of the Comcast Internet will help you get the Internet service at the highest available speed. But, it would be required to make some alterations to enhance the latency and the speed of your Internet connection, depending on your PC’s configuration and settings. Further, if you are using a wireless router for the connection to the Comcast Internet, then it's required to do some setting alterations on the router to make sure that your connection is as swift as possible. How to Adjust the Router Step 1.rnActivate your web browser. Step 2.rnEnter "192.168.1.1" in the address bar without the quotation marks and then, connect to the router. Step 3.rnEnter your username and password of the router. In case you have never visited the setting's page of your router, then you can set up the same with the default ones. Go through the user manual of your router to find your default password and username. Step 4.rnGo to the section of Internet settings of the setting's page of the router. This is generally marked as either "Internet Settings” or "Basic Settings." Step 5.rnConfirm that your router is configured with ISP recommended settings. Then, if required, you may need to enter the username and password of the Internet account as well as the DNS and IP address settings, or you may select the dynamic IP address in case your ISP supports that and then, enter the MAC address in accordance with the ISP recommended settings. Step 6.rnChoose the "Wireless Settings" if you are connected to the Internet through the Wi-Fi and then, make sure that everything is set correctly. Step 7.rnYou must save the changes made to your router. The router should be reset at this point. Step 8.rnMake sure that your Comcast internet modem and the wireless router are kept physically as far away as possible. Sometimes, line interference may be caused by placing the router and modem very close to each other and this can affect the speed of Internet connection. To keep your router and the modem as far away as possible, you can use a longer CAT5 cable. Updating the Computer Settings Step 1.rnLaunch the ‘Sharing Center’ and the Windows Network. You may find these in the Control Panel. Step 2.rnChoose your Internet connection from the list available in the section of "Active Networks". In case you are connected through a LAN, it will be named as "Wired Internet Connection." Else, if you are using a Wi-Fi, then it will be named as "Wireless Internet Connection." Step 3.rnClick on "Properties." Step 4.rnChoose the "Internet Protocol Version 4" and then, make sure that the DNS and IP addresses are set up in accordance with the ISP specifications. Step 5.rnInitiate the Windows firewall by clicking on the "Start" button. Thereafter, go to the "Control Panel" and then, select "System and Security," and finally, click on "Windows Firewall." Step 6.rnClick on the "Advanced Settings." Step 7.rnSelect "Monitoring," then "Firewall" and eventually, ensure that standard incoming and outgoing Internet connections aren't filtered or blocked by the firewall. Specifically, make sure that all the "Core Networking" variables are set to "Allow." Sometimes you may face certain technical problems in your Comcast internet connection.
