Research studies of human behavior show that we, human beings have self-seeking tendencies to be loved by others. Love and warmth is something that we always strive for, from our loved ones. We like to get loved by people and love to love others too. However, it is not as much a selfless feeling. The degree of selflessness increases as one attains higher stages of development, though. But until then, in the relationships, our passion of love flows towards the other person depending on the opposite person’s behavior! For example, if a husband gets diamond earrings for his wife, she will shower on him immense love and if he were to point any mistake of hers, she will not like it. rnIs this actually love? No! Love is beyond all worldly demands and hence it is strong enough to be able to survive any kind of behavior coming from the other person. Where there is love, there is only peace and harmony!! How can love with any selfish interest ever be called love? rnThe relationship between parents-child, teacher-student, husband-wife, boss-employee, or even between two or more friends are all worldly relationships that are mostly based on the opposite person’s behavior, and hence, conflicts arise very normally. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan says, the worldly love in the purest form is seen between the mother and her child. The mother loves her child irrespective of how her child behaves. She never expects anything in return, whether he is a six year old kid or a sixty year old man! She never forgets him nor ever forgets to take care of him. Her love is boundless and silent! Until there is the impurity of ego involved in a relationship, one can never understand the other person nor the meaning of the relation in his entire life. Therefore days, months and years pass by, but we don’t get to understand the true meaning of the word ‘love’. He says, “Love is one that neither increases nor decreases; it stays in the heart forever.” It means love is a constant flow, it neither overflows or underflows!! rnPure Love develops when equal compassion is felt for each and every being on this Earth. Whether the opposite person praises you, applauds you with garlands or he talks ill about you, your love never changes for him. The next day, when he comes to you, your feeling for him is the same! When you are filled with such love, nobody would want to hurt you the slightest, nor would want to leave you ever. A level of equanimity and selflessness is vividly felt between you and the opposite person; and this feeling is felt for one and everyone too!!
