It’s a funny dispute. You’ve seen it, I’m definite. Articles in the news where some phd argues that “Porn Addiction” is not a real addiction. They call it things like a habitual behavior, or a distasteful practice. But they seem to want to split hairs and say its not the same as alcoholism or drugs. I say: Who cares what you call it. The real dilemma is that people can’t stop watching it. Whether you call it a porn addiction or not, it is destroying marriages and hurting a lot of people. There are a lot of articles on the internet where people ask: How do I end looking at porn? There is a explanation its so challenging to stop a porn addiction. It becomes hard-wired in the brain if someone views it long enough. Their brain becomes addicted to the chemicals released while watching. So when someone tries to cease, they wear and tear the tools they already know. And unfortunately, those are the tools that got them stuck in the first place. Albert Einstein explained that when we want to alter something in our life, we can’t use the same mind that produced the problem. Most of us bear tools we use to get by with life. But for an addict, it is imperative to add new tools to the toolbox. If the only tool they own is a hammer, it might come off really well to beat in some nails. But what takes place when life hands them screws? Or when the toilet gets plugged? The hammer won’t help them very much. The best way to end a porn addiction is to find out new methods to deal with stress in life. Then they have to keep using these new tools until they become habits. It takes time to set up new habits, but eventually, they don’t need the porn anymore. They take care of their stress in healthy ways and their brain desires the escape less. If you would like to know how to quit porn, you ought to learn from people who have already done it. Stop trying to make use of the tools you already have to sort out a problem you got yourself into!
