It is common wisdom that one needs a Guru - a guide or mentor - in all that one does, whether in worldly matters or spiritually. Without someone to show the path, it is very difficult to reach the desired destination. Hence, at no point in life, can one eliminate the need for Guru’s guidance! However, quite often, when one gets to hear stories about misconduct of some ‘Guru’ somewhere, one becomes apprehensive regarding all the Gurus in the world. And then questions like - how does a person meet a Real Guru? What are the chances of meeting a fake one? – haunt our mind.rnSo, come, let us explore… Let’s begin by first understanding the meaning of the word ‘Guru.’ rnAs Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan explains in the book, ‘The Guru and the Disciple’: “The one that knows is a Guru… Only when there is a Guru, will you find the way.” rnGuru is one who knows and guides!rnDepending on the kind of goal we have, we seek a relevant Guru accordingly. Eg. If we want to learn how to cook, we look for someone who is an expert cook. Similarly, if we want to attain spiritual progress, we search for a spiritually advanced Soul. Thus, based on where we want to go, we seek a Guru who can take us there! This means, any person who is competent to show us the way to our desired destination is a real Guru. And anyone who deliberately makes us lose our way and wander is a fake one. Now, to answer, how does a person meet a Real Guru and what are the chances of meeting a fake one; this depends entirely on one’s karmic account. If it’s time for one’s good karma to unfold in the given matter, the person will naturally meet a real Guru. Yes, Nature will automatically bring together the required circumstances so that one happens to meet the real Guru. On the other hand, if one is unfortunate i.e. his bad karma are due for maturity, it similarly creates the chances of meeting a fake one. It is also important to remember that, any Guru can take us to the point where he has reached. That is, if they are on the seventh rung of the ladder, they can surely pull us to the seventh rung and if they are on the eleventh, they can make us reach the eleventh for sure. But beyond that remains a question-mark. Therefore, if our desired destination is the final station of moksha i.e. the ultimate liberation from the cycle of birth and death, then we need someone who has achieved Self-Realization to take us there. In other words, to attain moksh, which is the ultimate purpose of human life, we need Gnani, meaning, the Enlightened One. And Gnani is always rare to find. Yet in the present age, owing to tremendous merit karma standing as credit in millions of people’s account, today Akram Vignan, as expounded by Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, presents a rare confluence of circumstances, where it is possible for anyone to attain Atma-Gnan (Self-Realization) and progress on the path of moksha, our final destination where nothing but eternal bliss prevails!!!
