How Electronic City developed as a successful IT destination?

Electronic City is the reason why Bangalore is called the Silicon Valley of India. The major IT hub of Bangalore located in the Anekal Taluk houses India’s largest Electronic Industrial Parks spread over 3.2km in Konappana Agrahara and Doddathogur villages in Bangalore. Having three phases such as Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3, the electronic city was established by Karnataka Electronics also called Keonics, a pioneer in Information Technology infrastructure development. After the liberalization of the Indian Economy by the then Indian Prime ministers PV Narasimha Rao and the then Indian Finance Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Electronic city transformed itself into an outsourcing capital of the world. As the demand and inhabitants grew, the maintenance and the upkeep of Electronic City was handed over to ELCIA, the Electronic City Industries Association which was formed by the members of the different units thereby enabling effective local governance and resource management. The ELCIA upgraded the security aspects of township by deploying almost 500 security officials and installing CCTV cameras on all important locations considering the confidentiality of data and the value of outsourcing that is done from here. Eventually the Urban Development Department of Bangalore brought Electronic City Phases 1, 2 and 3 under the E city industrial township area. One of the most notable developments is of the Biotech Park Helix, that has been setup by the Department of Bio Technology at Electronic City. Due to an ever-increasing demand and the number of people plying to this area for work, BMTC has taken care to exponentially increase the number of buses to Electronic City, connecting all parts of Bangalore. The BIAL buses also ply from here to the Bangalore International Airport enabling all the visitors to make their travel easier. The city has also planned the Metro Rail Project Phase 2 between RV Road and Bommasandra via Electronic City. To avoid travel from and into the city every day, the population that works at Electronic City has now chosen to stay closeby to their office. This has led to the development of a lot of residential complexes, multi-specialty clinics, departmental stores, restaurants and fast food outlets. One such sought after residential area is the Neeladri Road and this is due to the proximity that this road offers to corporate companies, educational institutions and other necessary amenities. Neeladri Road is just outside the Dodda Thougu gram panchayat and houses a lot of residents.
