Energy efficiency is on the minds of many people in today’s society. The rising costs of fossil fuels, such as oil and gas, cause concern. This involves knowledge about how machines work and use energy. Also, these groups must know about the law of thermodynamics. This information has shown innovative products to increase efficiency. One product which increases efficiency is a flat plate heat exchanger. A flat plate heat exchanger can be used for a variety of heating and cooling needs. A flat plate heat exchanger is a product used to transfer heat load between two liquids. Flat plate heat exchanger can be used for water to water, oil to water, water to glycol mix, and many other liquid to liquid heat transfer applications. Flat plate heat exchangers are made of stainless steel plates fused together. These stainless steel corrugated plates are vacuum brazed together. The fusion of corrugated plates allows for certain things to occur. Water to water heat exchangers can operate more efficiently than many other types of heat exchangers within high range of temperatures. A water to water heat exchanger can withstand liquid flow of up to 15 GPM on small models, and much higher flow rates for bigger heat exchanger models. Fluids pass with highly turbulent flow through the channels of water to water heat exchanger maximizing efficiency of heat transfer. A water to water heat exchanger is widely used for hot water heating systems. This flat plate heat exchanger uses hot liquid as a heat source. This hot liquid is used to heat up a cooler liquid passing on the other side of a flat plate heat exchanger. Several types of heating and cooling systems can benefit from the use of a compact flat plate heat exchanger. Radiant floor heating systems can use it for efficiency. Ice and snow melt projects also need a flat plate heat exchanger installed to prevent mixing of hot water with glycol mix. Other systems can benefit from the use of a flat plate heat exchanger too. These include outdoor wood boilers used to heat water for a home, outdoor wood furnaces and wood stoves. The general principle is that water to water heat exchanger uses hot water to heat up colder water. The colder water passes on one side of the heat exchanger. Then heat is transferred from the hotter side of the heat exchanger through very thin plates. This is how water to water heat exchanger works. The two liquids never mix with each other inside a heat exchanger. Instead, they pass each other through the different channels inside a water to water heat exchanger. Water to water heat exchanger that used for radiant floor heating is also known as radiant heat exchanger. Whichever way it’s called it works efficiently to transfer heat from hot water heater or boiler to the radiant floor heating side.
