How Heartgard Plus Prevent From Heartworms in Dogs?

Heartgard plus are chewable tablets for dogs. They are made up of real-beef . It provides you protection against roundworms , hookworms and heartworms . It is generally given monthly or as prescribed by veterinarian .

Its working :
It contains an antiparassitic medication which prevent heartworm and it also contains Pyrantel Pamoate an anthelminthic which is used to protect dogs from roundworm and hookworms.
Things to be taken care of :-
1) They are chewable tablets and should be chewed and not swallowed whole . Preferably they should be given in pieces and fed to dogs. Make them eat the whole dose . It is very important to give these tablets every month on same day of each month throughtout the year and if in case it is missed more than 2 months the consult your veterinarian for the continuation of the medicine.
2) Do not take off chewable tablet from its wrapper until it is ready to give.
3) It is only for dogs and not for cats.
4) Do not give it to your pet if it is alredy taking another heartworm medicine.

Blue Chewable Heartgard Tablets (for Dogs 1-25 lbs) contains 68mcg Ivermectin 57 mcg Pyrantel Pamoate.
Green Chewable Heartgard Tablets (for Dogs 26-50 lbs) contains 136 mcg Ivermectin and 114 mcg Pyrantel Pamoate.
Brown Chewable Heartgard Tablets (for Dogs 51-100 lbs) contains 272 mcg Ivwemectin and 227 mcg Pyrantel Pamoate .

Dogs/Puppies 6 weeks of age or older :
Weighing upto 25 lbs of weight give 1 chewable tablet every month(Blue Box)
Weighing upto 26-50 lbs of weight give 1 chewable tablet every month(Green Box)
Weighing upto 51-100 lbs of weight give 1 chewable tablet every month(Brow
Box)
NOTE:
All dogs should be checked for heartworm infection before starting this preventive program.
