One day, you got this good news that you are one step close to your dream job. So you will need to check on your closet and find the best outfit to wear during the job interview. What you wear could be a plus point to the success of your dream role. Put in mind that “First Impression, Last”. In reality, no matter how much you prepare ahead, people will always have a say on how you look before you flaunt your CV.
If it’s been your “nth” time to attend interviews and has not been successful, you can kindly take a picture of yourself or say face the mirror and ask yourself – Will you hire you? You can simply ask a family member to seek their opinion on how you look and take note of their comments. They will for sure give their best recommendation.
It might seem obvious to many; however, here are a few tips that you should remember before going to your next job interview:
Dress for success and dress appropriately. – It is important that you dress appropriately for the job interview. Being conservative in your outfit doesn’t mean you have to wear a wedding gown or tuxedo. At least, a formal and corporate-look will do. But you have to take note of the position you are applying, if it is something like a supervisory role in a construction firm, a business casual fitting will do.
Look nice, smell nice. – In preparing everything, the clothes you wear is as important as anything else. Imagine if you are in a small room with the rest of the applicants and one smells so bad? Of course, you have to take a shower before going to the interview and put on some deodorant. Make sure your perfume isn’t that strong enough to drive away insects or other people. The scent should be subtle and not that strong. Try putting on some cologne. It is really important that you smell good. If your sweat gland is up to hype, wear something light. Put on tissues under your pits to keep you from sweating and it will absorb that body juices before the interview. This tip will make sure you are dry.
Keep jewelry to a minimum. – Make sure you don’t overdress or over accessorise when going to your interview. This could mean dangling earrings, big bangles and weird piercings that is obviously seen. It is important to be quite minimalistic in a way. The interviewer can sometimes very conservative and might be so critical on how you dress up or the way you wear your accessories. Those body adornments can be off limit in some companies. So please be mindful of keeping your jewelry to a minimum.
Smile and convey an easy confident attitude. – Do you know why it is important to smile? It is because it can create a ripple effect to make other people smile too and feel confident and happy deep inside. And when you do that in an interview, it’s like you are giving out a very positive aura. It can help you relax too when you are feeling nervous while waiting for your time to be interviewed. Of course, when your interviewer is greeted with a smile, he or she will definitely reply one back.
Body markings. – Well, an interview is not really the right avenue to show off your latest tattoo or some body adornments you have in there. Definitely, you may have a very significant life story that goes with it but being in an interview is something you have to get like a dream job. So this time, you may be keeping those body arts for the moment and just dress decently. When you apply, it is important to present yourself as so fit for the job. The target is getting hired! So bear that in mind.
