Shopping online hasn’t caught on to the majority of shoppers in Singapore yet but that will change quickly in the coming years as more people see the benefits of purchasing their goods online. It is somewhat true that there are more women shopping online than men but hey, neither do you see throngs of men at retail stores or warehouse sales do you? Having said that, various private online sales clubs cater to both men and women, and the all-important children!
It’s true, shopping directly from retail stores gives you a first-hand experience on the items you’re buying, trying out the size, comparing prices at different stores, checking for defects etc. Yet coming hand-in-hand is a plethora of benefits online shopping, especially in Singapore. One cannot disregard the convenience of online shopping, with the most obvious being that you can shop from the comfort of your home. That way, buying a glamorous dress doesn’t require you to dress up and head to the most posh area of town; you can do it in your pyjamas.
If not home, then shopping online through your mobile app enables you to do it wherever there is internet connectivity. An added benefit is how prices may end up cheaper at online sales websites and let’s not forget that you can actually buy items from overseas! Though Singapore has a thriving shopping district, there are brands aplenty that we cannot find in this country. This is where online shopping provides us with a wider range of items to choose from.
Shipping charges will always be present but it’s a small price to pay for having your items delivered right to your doorstep. Online shopping also puts you in the middle of the Internet, with all the complementary tools utilised by the online company; social media such as Facebook and Twitter for engagement, swift feedback and response through traditional email channels, instantaneous uploads of photos and price changes that will keep you on your toe. Online shopping stores utilise many of these tools, being a keen user of social media while you can be sure they respond to every customer enquiry as fast as possible.
Don’t forget about the various online competitions and virtual lucky draws that you can participate in without stepping out of the house. With numerous online sales site such as blogshops, private online sales clubs, coupon selling websites etc, there is no shortage of shops online to meet the ever increasing demand in Singapore.
