Apart from the obvious benefits of VoIP can give you, there are also other considerations to keep in mind if you choose a VoIP phone service:
· You can use your analog phone equipment
Your VoIP service provider uses what is called an analog telephone adapter that you can use your analog phone equipment, call as you normally would. With this adapter, also known as ATA, you can connect a standard phone to your computer or the Internet through a router. The adapter is really "analog-digital converter", which means that requires an analog signal from your phone, converts the digital data and transmits it over the Internet.
· Thus, you can also connect directly to a PC
This type of connection is even easier than the ATA connector that you can talk directly to a computer. You just need some software and a pair of headphones with a microphone, sound card on your computer and fast internet connection. A lot of companies out there offering low-no cost for this type of service, and the only fees you pay is your Internet service provider fees. It has its disadvantages, that can "only speak through a computer, but it's another option.
· You can try before you buy
If you try to use Voice over Internet Protocol, before you book your service, you can do it just to find some free VoIP software and the Internet. Download it, set it up for several minutes and start experimenting with it. You will not have to pay, but not limited to your Internet service provider charges fees for a friend to download the software, as well, so you can experiment with before you decide to buy.
