Our digestive system is a group of organs that helps breaking food and absorb its nutrients. The nutrients evolved from the food is utilized by the body as its fuel to keep the body system working, the food which is left as roughage is thrown out of the body through anal in the form of stools and that is the end of the digestion process. Digestive system of the body keeps the body fit and relax but how long does it take to digest food? Is a very important question to acknowledge? It’s very necessary for one to understand the concept of food intake to keep the digestion in process if one eats food very fast or consume high fat food it can result in acid reflux or heartburn. One must follow healthy and timely eating habit to keep body and digestive system in perfect form. Let’s first dwell around the longevity of digesting food and its facts. How long does it take to digest food depends on the type of food you consume every meal, complete digestion of food takes 24 – 72 hours. The rate of digestiondepends on factors like gender, metabolism, and digestive issues slowing down digestion process. In many cases the food moves through the stomach and small intestinewithin 6 to8 hours and then passes to the large intestine. Once the food is consumed through mouth it travels to large intestine where it partially grounds for a day or more than a day, digestion of food varies on the Gender basistoo in females it takes 47 hours and males 33 hours. VEGETABLES: raw salad, vegetables, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, celery, green pepper needs 30-40 minutes to utilize all the minerals and nutrients.rnLEAFY VEGETABLES like spinach, collards, kale, and escarole takes 40 minutes to digest completely whereasSTEAMED VEGETABLES like broccoli, string, beans, zucchini, and yellow corns needs a certainamount of time to get digest in 45 minutes.
