Microdermabrasion is considered one of the best ways to exfoliate the facial skin. It is a facial treatment in which the top layer of skin is removed, which has dead skin cells and damage from the sun. This layer of skin is called the stratum corneum, and by removing it, it is a means to freshen up the skin and achieve a healthier, more vibrant and younger appearance. The process of microdermabrasion works because it is an abrasive to the surface of the skin which leaves the skin smoother and healthier. It is somewhat like sanding a piece of wood. It is a procedure that has been used in Hollywood for years and has now hit the mainstream, and many individuals that have had troubles with the appearance of their skin due to different ailments, such as sun damage, acne scars and pigment discoloration are seeking the treatment, as it does make a difference in condition and appearance of their skin. The procedure is painless and actually quite a pleasant experience, as the dead skin cells and damaged skin are removed and the skin feel fresh and appealing, once again. Although individuals can purchase a home kit to perform the treatment, there is no substitution for physician care, and treatment should be performed in the doctor's office. The at-home kits are not as effective as the treatment performed by the physician and the procedure should be conducted in the most professional manner to ensure quality and safety. Microdermabrasion is skin rejuvenation and microdermabrasion cost is affordable. Once the top layer of the skin is exfoliated and removed, the skin is then able to begin to heal, bringing new skin cells that make the skin look and feel smoother. Acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation and other imperfections of the skin are all refined. How Microdermabrasion Works Microdermabrasion works by applying tiny rough grains which buff off the surface layer of the skin. The treatment is typically performed on the face, neck, chest, hands or arms. Patients that have the treatment performed will find although it is not an uncomfortable treatment, the side effects include mild swelling and redness that typically begins one hour after having the treatment performed, and can last up to two days. The benefit of the procedure is not just smoother, healthier looking skin, but also that when the individual applies medicinal creams and lotions, they are more effective, as they are able to penetrate deeper into the skin. For individuals that have severed skin conditions, such as deep blemishes, continued treatment may have an influence on the way in which the lower layers of skin grow, helping to heal the condition. Microdermabrasion is a solution that many adults are seeking who are experiencing negativities to their skin as a result of overexposure to the sun, fine wrinkles and lines, acne scars and other ailments that may have caused damage to the individual's skin and / or sensitivities. Microdermabrasion is the solution to condition the skin to the once healthy appearance of smooth, healthy looking skin that does give that youthful appearance.
