If you ask most people what plumbers do for a living they'll probably tell you that plumbers unblock toilets, stop taps from leaking and fix burst water pipes. And the truth is that plumbers do take care of those types of problems for you but that isn't the only type of work they do. In fact what most people forget is that plumbers are present in a home before a wall or roof exists so they probably know more about the inside of your home then you do. You see when the foundations of a house are being put down the plumbing system for the entire house needs to be planned at that early stage so that when the concrete is poured for the floor that all of the fittings for taps, sinks, dishwashers, showers and toilets are all exactly where they should be.
So when it comes to building a home or renovating the plumbing in an existing home it's always a good idea to have a professional plumber help you with that simply because they understand exactly how household plumbing works and they'll be able to visualize where things are on top of using pipe tracking equipment to make sure that holes aren't dug or drilled directly into main water pipe.
If you're having problems with a leaking central heating system, noisy boiler or water heater or radiators that don't heat a room or themselves as well as they used to then you'll need help from a plumber here too. Central heating systems can be a nightmare to troubleshoot unless you know exactly what you're doing and have the right tools for the job. The same applies for dealing with radiators that have cold spots on them - usually caused by an internal blockage - these are going to need to be jet or power flushed clean which, again, is best left in the hands of a plumber with the tools and the training to complete that type of work safely, efficiently and cleanly.
And last but not least is the fact that plumbers help with those jobs that most people simply don't have the stomach for. Have you ever unblocked a toilet or sewage pipe yourself? If so you know this is stomach chu
ing work at the best of times and plumbers have to undertake work like this several times each week - maybe even several times per day. If nothing else this is something that plumbers can help with that nobody else is willing or able to deal with.
So your home relies on plumbers far more than you might think - from when the first blocks are laid to when you move in and as you start filling your home with children you'll find that plumbers become all the more important to you with each passing day. What parent can face a house with no working toilet for example?
