How Much Does IVF Actually Cost?
An Overview
First of all, we should note that IVF accounts for a multistep process. Therefore, each part of the process has a certain cost. According to IVF Authority report, the average cost for an IVF cycle ranges from $10,000 to $15,000. And this doesn’t include the price of all the medications you will be required to take during the process. As for the costs of the medication, it can be somewhere around $1,500 and $3,000 per cycle. There was actually a study that wanted to track down the average sum of money spent by couples at a specific fertility clinic. Hence, over 18 months, the average couple included in the study spent no less than $19,234. Concurrently, for each additional cycle, they had to pay another sum of money – around $6,955. As you can see, the price is quite significant. This might be a bit overwhelming. However, there are still some states in which the insurance covers part of the expenses or medications. It goes without saying that everything counts so you should look into this.Getting a Quote from Your Fertility Clinic
It’s essential to know what the price you pay includes. For instance, the quotes provided by fertility clinics can vary greatly and some might seem more affordable than others. But there are many misunderstandings as patients fail to acknowledge that each clinic includes a given number of services at that price. rnWith that in mind, you should ask the clinic whether the quote you got includes the following:- Pre-fertility IVF testing or consultations – you might be required to repeat some fertility tests, even if you’ve already completed them in the past.
- Ultrasound monitoring and blood tests
- Mock embryo transfer
- Fertility medication
- Cryopreservative of any extra embryos
- The fee for storing the embryos
- Access to additional assisted reproductive technologies such as PGD, ICSI, or testicular sperm extraction, among other things.
