Most women, especially those who are having a baby for the first time, tend to eat a lot while pregnant, thinking that they are not only eating for themselves but also for the baby inside them. Men also spoil their expecting wives or girlfriends and lavish them with food, goodies, and plenty of time to rest. The result of this doting and careless eating is actually a lot of gained pounds. More often than not, mommies find it very hard to go back to their weight and size before they got pregnant, even with the pressures of rearing a new child.
All women who have just given birth worry about how they will loose all the weight that they have gained and the fatty deposits on their tummy, arms, and legs. However, many don't get past the worrying stage because the responsibilities of taking care of a new baby, running the household, and even going back to work are more pressing and important. Often times, their very busy schedules do not permit them to go to the gym.
Aside from lack of exercise, some women also find it very hard to get back to their pre-pregnancy body because of their genes. Worse, there are individuals whose skin and tissues are not as elastic as others, so once their skin is stretched and expanded by fatty deposits, much like what happens during pregnancy, it does not get back to its original form.
Nevertheless, mommies can still attain a sleeker and more slender body just like before they got pregnant. All they need to have is a lot of discipline and hard work.
Exercise And Weight Training Are Important
Pregnant women usually don't get to exercise every part of their bodies. As a result, some of their muscles, particularly those that are located in the stomach and abdomen, might have lost their tightness and form. If you want to lose all the pounds you have gained, you need not only cardio and aerobic exercises, but a weight training program as well.
Remember that jogging, running, or walking are not enough to build muscles. You need to do lunges, sit ups, and lift weights to make your muscles taut. Climbing the stairs instead of using the elevator, parking your car a few meters away from where you are going, walking the dog at night, and fidgeting and moving around while you are watching the television are also effective ways to help burn unwanted fat.
Watch What You Eat
After your pregnancy, you are back at just eating for one person; you have to start limiting your intake of certain types of food such as chocolates, junk foods, and white bread. It would be better if you start eating more fruits, vegetables and fish rather than processed foods, red meat, and sweets.
Do not think of the changes in your eating habits as a diet. Many people don't like the idea that they are limiting their food intake or eating more spinach just to lose weight. Instead, think of these new changes as a way to strengthen your body, replenish the minerals you lost during pregnancy, and boost your immune system. Naturally, you don't want to be sick because you wouldn't want to infect your baby with colds and other communicable diseases.
