Etiquette may be defined as the behavioral code that expresses expectations of social behavior for a particular society, class or group. Different cultures have their own definition of etiquette. Social, cultural and national differences change the meaning of etiquette from person to person. One thing may appear polite in English, but may appear differently when translated to some other language. To define etiquette for a particular class of persons, a detailed study of their personalities, social and economic class, religion, educational background, sex, race, etc must be performed. You cannot evaluate someone on the basis of what you think constitutes good etiquette. Everyone has his/her own perception and hence different definition of etiquette. Here are some generally accepted rules of etiquette: -Always respect others in all circumstances -Think positively while responding to a complaint. -Never be biased in any professional case. -While responding to someone's problem, respect and evaluate whatever the other party is trying to say and then present your point in a way that is best understandable to the recipient. Never try to enforce your point without listening to others. -Always try to help others to best of your ability. -Don't lose patience even if other party is getting emotional, angry or illogical. Try to cater the situation to the best of your ability. This will always raise your level of respect among others. -Don't throw garbage on roads, parks, business places. Always use trash bins. -Never spit on road and walls. It creates a bad impression and is unsanitary. -Always perform social interactions within the norms of culture you are dealing with. -Always consider the age and experience of others while talking to them. -If you find someone involved in unethical behavior, don't try to insult him or her by telling others about their act. Instead use other appropriate methods, like giving friendly advice or approaching the relevant authority, like company management, if you are afraid that they will continue with their disruptive behavior. Generally, you should try to tolerate the other person’s actions if it is not harmful to anyone. To conclude, humans are recognized by their etiquette. They improve mutual relationships and make others act sincere with you. They promote love and friendship. Rules of etiquette apply equally to everyone. Often, parents do not behave appropriately around their children, causing the children to pick up disrespectful behavior. So everyone should accept the responsibility of learning about and following the standard etiquette of their society.
