Online security has become very important for everybody. While browsing internet one’s information and data is exposed to the prying eyes of spammers and hackers. Even anti-virus software installed on your system can not do much once your data is sent out in the chaotic cyberspace where it can be prowled by hackers and used for their nefarious ends. Even firewalls can only prevent such threats from entering the LAN and hence data inside your system remains safe. The best tool available to safeguard your data while it travels in the market is Virtual Private Network.
VPN creates a tunnel between your computer and the remote server. All information entering the tunnel is encrypted and decrypted at the receiving point. Any data which is not encrypted will not be able to enter the tunnel. Strong authentication required by the private network would keep unwanted online species like hackers and spammers at way as they won’t be able to crack the authentication needed to enter the network. On getting a VPN account, you will be assigned a server generated IP address of another country masking your original IP address. It would render your browsing anonymous. All of your requests are routed to the remote server of your VPN provider. And, the remote server would connect you to internet.
VPN uses encryption of data for security
Of all the tools available in the market like proxy servers, software to hide your IP, etc, VPN is considered the safest one due to stringent security protocols used inherent to the technology. Even proxy servers can easily be compromised. As for software to hide your IP, hackers have got the technologies to break through it too. It is only VPN which is entirely safe from threats emanating from hackers, spammers, etc.
Encryption is one of the key tools which make VPN such a secure medium for accessing internet without any fear of data being exposed. All data going through the tunnel is encrypted at one end and decrypted at the other end. VPN uses internet security protocols (IPSEC) or generic routing encapsulation (GRE).Generally, protocols like PPTP, L2TP and SSL are used in case of remote access VPNs.
How come VPN is so safe?
Every computer connected to internet has got a unique IP address by which it is identified online. While browsing online you can be tracked by your IP to collect details like your browsing history and even to break into your system. But VPN offsets such tracking by assigning you a new server generated IP address of another country. So for all online purposes, your IP address assigned by a server remains your IP address. What is more, remote server is located outside of your country. One can see how using VPN it becomes almost impossible to track you as you are browsing with IP address of your VPN provider. This level of security is not possible with any other technology except VPN.
