When some people get to ride in a limousine, their common sense flies out the tinted windows. They start acting like spoiled rich people who want to flaunt their wealth in front of average people. They might climb out of the sun roof and yell at other cars or roll down the windows and make rude gestures to people in the lane next to them. This behavior, though, is unacceptable when it comes to riding in a limo. Limo services will not tolerate these acts and may refuse to drive you where you want to go if you engage in them. Plus, these behaviors can damage the limo, which can cause the person who rented it to have to pay more in damage fees.

Basically, if you just exercise common sense, your limo ride will be everything you hoped it would be. However, in case alcohol starts to cloud your judgment, which is not out of the realm of possibility when it comes to limo rides, here are some tips to keep in mind when riding in a limousine.

1. To begin with, safety is your top priority when it comes to both the passengers and the driver of the limo. You can only have as many passengers as the law allows, so whoever rents the vehicle in the first place needs to make sure that the limo is large enough to carry all the people who are coming to the event. This will make sure that all people involved are safe as well as comfortable.

2. Treat the limousine with respect. This is not your vehicle. It belongs to the limo services from which it was rented. That company has paid a high price for that vehicle and it needs to be kept in pristine condition for other renters down the road.

3. When you are in the limo, the laws are the same as if you were riding in another vehicle. This means minors still cannot drink alcohol, drug use is still illegal and sticking your head out the sunroof is still frowned upon. Most limo rental companies have rules that can terminate the ride at any time without a refund if they are broken.

4. Never leave your valuables in a limousine when you leave it to attend your event. Limo companies are not responsible for watching over your belongings.

5. Tip your driver between 15 and 20%. This is a standard amount but you should tip more if the driver went above and beyond what you expected. Always put the tip in an envelope and hand it directly to the driver.

These five simple tips can make an already-great limo ride even better. Just keep your wits about you and act like you’ve ridden in one all your life. Both your passengers and your driver will appreciate it.
