If you enjoy entertaining, consider installing a bar in your home. Setting up a home bar is fun and easy. All you need to do is choose a theme such as a pub or tiki bar, and stock it with home bar accessories such as cocktail shakers, bottle openers, stemware and a good selection of alcohol. Here are some ideas to keep your bar well-stocked.

Every home bar needs the right stemware to enjoy different types of drinks. The shape and style of wine glasses determines the flavor of the wine. Red wine should be served in glasses with wide mouths and large bowls, while white wine is served from glasses with narrow mouths and smaller bowls.

Champagne glasses are used to serve sparkling wines. There are three types of champagne glasses: champagne flutes, coupe glasses and tulip glasses. Champagne flutes are ideal to serve champagne. The tall and narrow shape prevents the drink from going flat. The narrow mouth of the flutes doesn’t let the bubbles dissipate quickly and preserves the flavor of the champagne.

You can get a set of four to six champagne glasses for toasts and special occasions. There are various styles such as stemless, etched glass and mouth blown glasses you can choose from. Clear glasses are a good choice, as they offer excellent clarity to enjoy the bubbles of the champagne.

Home bar accessories such as a cocktail shaker, a stirrer and corkscrew are essential to entertain in style. You can consider getting a set of bar tools for the home bar. Choose a set that will help you make cocktails. Strainers, stirrers and measuring tools like jiggers are necessary to make cocktails. Garnishing tools such as cocktail picks complete the cocktail set.

Consider including home bar accessories such as ice buckets, tongs and whiskey decanters. A handbook with cocktail recipes and bartending tools is a helpful addition to the home bar. A grater and a paring knife will be helpful for making fruity drinks.

The home bar will be complete with a good selection of alcohol and liqueur. Stock up on basics such as gin, vermouth, vodka and beer. Fruit juices such as lime, orange and tomato are also essential to complete the home bar.

Choose bar tools, accessories and stemware that are durable and easy to clean.
