In today’s world computer is the need of everyone. Most of the people use to store their important data on the computer. If somehow due to virus, malware or any system failure occurs then they have to loose all their data. Data Backup is the resolution of this problem. In this article I will let you know about the procedure which you must adopt to create Backup on your Windows 7 computer. Computer backup is a method by which user can create an exact replica of all their essential data on a separate CD/DVD, hard drive, Network location on different computer. It is always recommended to store the backup on the separate hard drive. Windows operating system allows you to choose the drive/specific folder which you want to save.rnPre requirements for creating a Backup: • The external drive must be formatted in NTFS file system. Even you can’t make a backup of FAT32 file system. rnFor creating a backup you have to follow the steps mentioned below: • Click on the “Start” button then open “Control Panel”. • In the Control Panel Window click on the “System and Maintenance” and click on “Backup and Restore” to start the Window 7 Backup Wizard. • Else you also have another way through which you can open Window 7 Backup Wizard and create a backup for individual drive by following the steps mentioned below:rn1. Click on Start button and select “My Computer” available in the list.rn2. Now make a right click on the system drive which is generally “C:” and then open “Tools” tab.rn3. For starting the Window 7 Backup Wizard you have to click on “Back up this now”. • In the Window 7 wizard now you have to select the hyperlink having label “Set up Backup”. If your computer is password protected then UAC will prompt a dialog box requesting for putting the password if not correct then don’t allow you to make changes. • Now you have to select the location where you want to store the backup. It is always advised not to backup data on the hard disk where windows operating system is installed. • You can create backup on the CD/DVD and external hard drive even on the network folders of the network. • Depending on our need you will get two choices for creating backup: “Let Windows choose” and “Let me choose”. • If you select “Let Windows choose” then all the data saved on the desktop, libraries and default windows folder of all the users of that computer. Default windows folder includes Appdata, Contacts, Desktop, Favorites, Link, Saved Games and Search result. If you have files in the library saved on the other computer, on the same drive that you are saving the backup on, then these files are not stored in the backup. • If you select “Let me choose” then you will get an authority to select the specific folders according to your need and choice .Even if you had selected the program files, system folders( which are recognized as the part of registry ) these files will not be included in the backup. • “Let me choose” also allow you to make “System image” of C: at the same time and click on “Save Settings and Run Backup”. • Before moving forward confirm that you storage drive is formatted in NTFS file system. • Make sure that you have enough space to create backup on the CD/DVD, hard disk, external drive if not then remove the unnecessary files from it. • Then you will get an option to schedule data backup task and create backup daily or weekly or monthly according to your need. • Now process of Backup will begin and the progress meter will shows the actual progress. • After completion of the process you will get a confirmation message.rnI have tried these steps on my own PC and they all worked flawlessly.
