Often office fitouts have to do a lot more than simply house a few desks and industrious employees. Many workplaces also need to act as showcases for the business's most valued qualities. If you are planning a new space design for your business, showcasing your creativity may be a top priority. This is particularly true for all businesses in the design industry, whether fashion, industrial or home wares. Creativity, however, is also important in just about every other industry; creative thinking is needed to solve problems and to find more efficient ways of delivering your product or service. We've collected a few tips on how to bring out your business's creativity in your office fitout.

Work with the space you have

If you are lucky enough to have an office in a beautiful historic building or an impressive modern sky rise, you should take advantage of your unique space in your fitout. Even if there is nothing noticeably exceptional about your building, you should be able to find some special qualities to accentuate with your creative design, such as an unusually shaped space or a picturesque view. This shows that your business is not only creative, but also resourceful.

Tone it down

Being creative doesn't have to mean stuffing your office fitout with objects, textures and colours. You can use white walls and simple, clean lines to build an elegant space that expresses your business's sophisticated style. You do, however, need some accent pieces to distance your work space from drab workplaces that offer no inspiration. You can choose statement art pieces, designer furniture or luxurious soft furnishings to give your workplace a creative edge.

Invite the natural world in

Have you noticed the recent trend of living walls? They are hanging gardens that look just like a riotous wild meadow or murky swamp turned sideways and stuck to the wall. Living walls have been used to great effect in reception foyers for many large companies. While this might be a little ambitious for the average office fitout, using succulents in colourful clay plots or even quirky terrariums is a great way to express your dynamic creativity.

Express your personality

The most important ingredient in your office fitout is your own design aesthetic. There's no point in blindly following interior design directives if they don't adequately express who your company is and what it does for the community. Instead, you should allow the personality and life of your business shine through the office fitout.
