Travelling is something that we cannot avoid. For some, it is a passion and for others, it can be professional or personal travel. Although travelling often gives good memories, sometimes vacation constipation or travel constipation comes along with it. It happens when a person suddenly finds himself or herself unable to evacuate as per the regular schedule. There can be a plethora of reasons for constipation, such as- ●Sudden changes in the dietrn●Changes in physical activitiesrn●And some health conditions Constipation is common during or after coming from a long journey. While travelling, our diet usually gets interrupted and sitting for long hours slows things down in the gut, and that’s why constipation occurs. But you don't need to worry much because you are not the only one. Many other people experience this side effect of travelling. Here are some essential points that you need to remember while travelling to get rid of constipation.

Take fibrous foods

Make sure not to avoid taking whole grains cereal or chocolates and other processed foods while you are on a vacation. Always add fibre to your diet because having less fibrous food is one of the prime causes of constipation. Try eating fruits, vegetables and whole-grain bread every day.

Don’t consume too many low-fiber foods

We all love to consume snacks and desserts while we are on vacation. But these foods are responsible for making constipation worse. Some of the common foods that cause constipation are sweets, pizza, meat, cheese, ice cream, processed foods, chips, etc. If you notice the signs of constipation, instantly limit the intake of such foods.

Drink an adequate amount of fluids

Consuming extra fluid makes the stool soft and easy to pass. Having adequate amounts of fluid prevents dehydration which is one of the prime reasons for constipation. So make sure to carry a water bottle and keep it filled while travelling. Taking fruit juice and sprinkle water can also help.

Stay active

We have to sit for a long time while travelling from any medium, whether it be, plane, car, bus or train. Unfortunately, when we stop moving, our bowel movements also get slow. So make sure to take short breaks and move around while travelling.

Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption

When we are on vacation, we love to drink and enjoy ourselves but excessive intake of alcohol and caffeine can elevate the problem of constipation and cause dehydration too. So, we need to ensure neither to hamper our refreshment nor to trigger any health issues.

Use Ayurvedic remedies for constipation

Many of us avoid taking chemical-based medicines often. In that case, using ayurvedic medicines for constipation is proven helpful. Such medicines are made from natural ingredients and cause no side effects. But, in case the problem is becoming severe, it is recommended to visit the doctor.
