Let us consider a search engine. It can be any search engine-Google, Bing or Yahoo. When a user (the intended customer) types in the search box, he or she seeks particular information. A key word or a key phrase is typed. The user by typing the key word hopes to find the information that he or she is searching for. In a sentence, the user is hunting for a particular bit of knowledge in the information jungle.
It is possible to explain a concept in dissimilar manner. For example, if the user wants information to buy a soap bar, she can type ‘soap’ in the search bar. She can also type ‘lemon scented soap’ in the search bar- if she prefers the lemon scent while bathing. Or she can type ‘fruit scented bathing soap’ for a wider choice. It is clear that there are endless keywords and key phrases to search the same thing. The searched words can also vary from person to person seeking identical information. Notice the key phrases I just mentioned. Some people type a general keyword like ‘soap’, while others put in more specific like ‘lemon scented soap’. This is the reason of varying the content of landing pages and advertisements. Pay per Click works well only when there is an umbrella text covering all probable search phrases and keywords. This includes both landing pages and the advertisements contained there. Since, it is not possible to read users’ minds; we can follow certain techniques instead.
For an effective Pay per Click campaign, repeat the keyword term both in the landing page and in the advertisement copy. It should be in an important position. The user must be convinced that he or she has clicked or going to click the right link. The potential client must be guided to the pertinent page. The homepage may not be the page the user is searching for. It is the page, which has the most relevance to the query typed in the search bar. It is to be remembered that a user may search for information and not to purchase any product or service. In this case, the website owner may offer free detailed information which comes with an enquiry form. Therefore, the opportunity to sell to the user at a later date becomes possible.
Navigation is very important for an effective PPC. It is best to assume that the user is a novice in all respects. The text should be simple and the navigation intuitive for an effective campaign. Remember that a user does not read the page, but scans it.
Use images to add excitement to the page. They must complement the text. Too much text frightens the reader. A good PPC company with better PPC services ensures that there are catchy headlines and attractive text.
