Do you ever feel like the whole world is against you? Do you struggle with feelings of anger and betrayal? Do you envy others or feel that life has dealt you an unfair hand? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you may be suffering from victim consciousness. You believe yourself to be a victim of your circumstances, of other people, or of the world. This belief is limiting you and preventing you from having the life you want and deserve. You can shed this mantle of powerlessness and take control of your life, and I am here to show you how! Victim consciousness comes to us through memories of being a victim in the past. These memories are most frequently formed in childhood, when we are dependent on others for the things we need. When we are neglected or abused, or even just embarrassed or disappointed, we form memories of being victims. As we grow older those memories stay with us, even as we gain the skills that would otherwise let us take control of our lives and stop being victims. Practically everyone in the world experiences these feelings of helplessness, low self-esteem, powerlessness, and anger. This is because practically everyone has experienced negative events at some point in their lives which cause these painful memories. Whether or not you consciously remember these painful events, they take up residence in your unconscious mind. From there, they serve as a reminder of where you came from. They even cause you to believe that they can tell you who you are. Most people believe that their past determines who they are in the present, so they believe their past memories when they tell them that they are not good enough, that they are unworthy, or that they are victims of people and circumstances. You may find yourself reading this and saying, “Well, of course my past experiences make up who I am. After all, they happened to me and impacted my personal development. I would not be who I am right now without these past experiences.” But if those past experiences are negative and painful, then what does that make you? A victim! Many people try to change this by consciously taking control of their lives and trying to make it better by themselves. To a certain extent, you can reject the belief that you are a victim. However, you will never be able to completely get rid of victim consciousness by yourself because the memories are still there, affecting how you feel about yourself, others, and life in general. The only permanent way to stop feeling like a victim is to stop identifying yourself with your painful, negative history. How can you do that without denying that it happened and plunging yourself into cognitive dissonance? Simply denying things that you know to be true isn’t going to change anything; in fact, it will just make things worse. The only way to completely dis-identify yourself from the past is to permanently and completely erase your negative past from your unconscious mind and body. Through a coaching process that was developed over 10 years ago, you can clear the slate of your unconscious mind from negative memories and beliefs. You are left feeling like these memories never actually took place. When this happens, your self-image alters completely from victim consciousness to a consciousness of being a confident, empowered, optimistic, and successful person. I can help you achieve this! While I was waiting for my dance class to start, I watched an instructor patiently coach a couple through what was obviously one of their first lessons. The instructor was having them do a “box step,” which is what it sounds like. A “box” made with your feet. It consists of two parts, a forward half box and a backward half box. Each half box has three steps: a step forward or backward, a step to the side, and a step to close the feet together. The instructor was counting out
