You have encountered all kinds of issues with your business, but you likely have not dealt with something like COVID-19. Whether you are the restaurant owner that can only serve take out and delivery now or your call team has to work remotely for the first time ever, your business can survive the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to stay afloat during the COVID-19 crisis, you must energize your business like never before. But don't worry. You can do this. Here are five ways to bring that energy to your business. 1. Don't Panic If you panic, you cannot bring the energy needed into your business. Your team needs you to be calm, collected, and on top of things. Even if you are not sure of certain things that must be done, you need to present to your staff that you are in control. You also need to be certain to remind your team not to panic. And this is especially true for your managers and leads. They need to be setting a good example just like you are doing. If you all remain in control of your emotions, you can make it through the COVID-19 pandemic. But first, you have to make sure you are not panicking. 2. Focus on Advertising and Marketing Now more than ever you need to advertise and market your business. And the good news is you do not have to spend an arm and a leg with those efforts. In fact, you can accomplish a good bit of your advertising and marketing for free or for a very minimal cost. Make sure you are utilizing social media. During the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers are using social media more than ever. Remind your customers that you still have services they can receive during the pandemic. You also could invest a little in postage and send direct mail to your customer pipeline. 3. Remind Everyone About Wellness It is important for you to make sure your employees are focused on more than their work under your direction. You also should direct them to helpful resources that stress the importance of mental and physical wellness during the COVID-19 crisis. Make sure your employees can destress, not just from their work, but from other parts of their life that have changed as a result of the public health pandemic. You should regularly send out communications to your employees that remind them of how important it is to take care of their overall well-being. And you need to ask your leads and managers to be on the lookout for potential wellness issues. Encourage your entire team to be open and honest as to how they are dealing with the public health crisis. 4. Acknowledge and Reward Employees Don't forget to properly acknowledge and reward your employees for their hard work during these unprecedented times. Your staff could benefit from the extra attention being placed on their work. They could become more energized and better able to focus on their assignments, and you can get the productivity you need. You can, of course, be certain to alert your staff about accomplishments more than usual through existing procedures. But you also could look at inexpensive gifts. Consider things like gift baskets or gift cards that would be useful for them during these unusual times and have them delivered to their homes. 5. Hire an Agile Coach It might be beneficial for you to hire an outside expert to ensure your business is energized and firing on all cylinders. You also could benefit from having someone handy that can help you ensure unneeded issues do not develop. If you have not ever thought about hiring an agile coach, now more than ever might be the best time to do this. Agile coaching helps ensure your team is taught needed skills, that mentoring takes place, and facilitation of plans are carried out. You can get assistance with technical issues and personnel issues, and again, you can prevent those issues from even beginning. Don't Let COVID-19 Drag Your Business Down Make sure you have the steps in place to bring the needed energy to your business. Turn to one or more of the effective strategies presented above, and your business can survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
