One of our most valuable gifts is our focus. I define focus as how we direct our awareness; for what we give our attention to, is what we become conscious of. Even though our visual focus may seem little more than a glance, our awareness has the ability to transport our consciousness. Unfortunately, most of our glances are unconscious and that is like spilling our consciousness out without any concern. When you deal with a health challenge, you have to be even more aware of how you are conscious.
Now, imagine if our consciousness was as precious as gold. Our glances would become something of value. When that happens, the little glance we give someone we are attracted to has so much meaning; in that moment, we are literally sharing our life with them. What would that mean in our daily life? Sharing our life with every glance puts a lot of consciousness into our world. We would become more aware of other people’s needs and we would even become more sensitive.
Conscious glances easily make us notice things with the people we love. When we understand the power of awareness, we can easily become more aware with everyone we interact with. A conscious glance can play a significant role in the correction process; the more conscious you are, that which is imperfect seems to stick out. There is an old saying; “awareness is curative.” When you notice something wrong and in your mind you know what is right…it is natural to simply try to fix it.
Now think about that last sentence. Your awareness notices something wrong, but in your mind and heart you know what is right. It is only your ego that resists the correction process. If you were able to let go and listen to your inner being; you are on an evolutionary journey. For instance, as a person with MS, I have had to teach myself to walk three times.
As I walked a dysfunctional walk, I would take specific notice of how my foot set down, my speed and my posture. In my mind, I would imagine a conscious, healthy walk. Every night before sleeping, I would imagine that healthy walk and, in my mind, it became a habit. This lead to a natural correction process; awareness of my dysfunctional walk connected to the habit of my healthy walk and my body naturally corrected itself. I had to practice this over and over again and gradually my walk became more healthy. When I noticed this correction process happening, I became more confident in it. Later, I naturally trusted it.
As my MS progressed, I eventually needed to use a wheelchair. However, I had been able to enjoy many more years of walking than the doctors has predicted.
This means that this heightened awareness is especially important while you are in a health challenge. Your awareness is an incredible tool that should be consciously used. Just think, if a conscious glance had the power to activate healing, that would become an essential ingredient to ‘a healthy way to be sick.’
Imagine what that would do for our world. Simply, people would become more conscious and willing to help others unless their ego resisted that. In fact, this heightened awareness would make people look for completion with everything. When something is not complete, that would produce a creative disequilibrium. That awkward feeling would naturally move you to make things right and “everyone would happily live ever after.”
