Good health is based on a number of factors, and most of them are fairly simple and straightforward. Many people are aware of what they have to do to look and feel their best, but have trouble doing it consistently. If you want to get more nutrition out of your food then you should vary your diet often. From any food you can get all the different minerals, vitamins and amino acids that your body needs. That's why it's good to not only eat healthy foods, but to eat a diversity of foods from different food groups. Although it is good to eat vegetables and fruit everyday you do not have to always have an apple and spinach. Be adventurous, there are hundreds of different fruits and vegetables so try them. Whole grains, proteins and carbs are the same. Have different food so that you don't get stuck in a rut with it. In order to truly achieve health, your brain needs as much activity as you can give it. Alzheimer's and other age related problems are less likely to happen to people who stay mentally active. Even if you are young enough that those things aren't much of a worry, you need to use your brain as much as you can. You should consider learning a lifelong pursuit, whether you take classes, read books or even do research on your favorite topics online. Using your brain helps you feel young and keeps you interested in life. Another way to use your brain is to do things a little differently when you can, such as driving different routes, using your non-dominant hand for different tasks such as writing, or learning a completely new skill no matter how old you are.

When losing weight you shouldn't think of it as a short term thing that'll be done in a few weeks, look at it as a long term goal. Very low calorie and crash diets aren't good for you at all, as they lead to binge eating which means you'll gain all of the weight you lost back. At the end of the day your body does not prefer to add weight or lose it quickly, so the healthier option is to make changes that are gradual. This will also allow you to maintain a lower weight, as your body has time to adjust to your new eating and exercise habits. Losing weight can be a good thing, but you need to understand that if it's done too quickly you cannot stay healthy.

If you want to improve your health there are lots of things that deserve your attention, things like what you eat, how you process stress and how and how often you interact with others. When you focus on all of the easy changes that you can do to day to improve your health, including making healthy choices and soon you'll have changed your entire life.
